Spring in review

So I realize that is has been a very long time since I last blogged. Sorry...we have been a little busy around here.
Now that it is the first of June and the heat is already creeping close to 100, it seems that spring has left us.

Here are the things that have kept us busy this spring:

We wrapped up the end of basketball. Isaac's Kindergarten basketball team was so good and we had a GREAT coach. They ended the year playing in the tournament in the 1st grade level. I thought it would be a short tournament for us, but they went all the way to the last game and got 2nd in the 1st grade level!

The boys had a week off after tournament and then Cooper's baseball league started.
This is when Kevin and i took a 10 yr. anniversary trip to the BVI!!

This was our beach where we got to relax and read books and snorkel.

We even got to finish our conversations. It was so great to have a break from our busy life and remember why we got married and really take some time to work on listening to each other. We used the book by Dan Allender to get us talking.
Before we left Mei had a fever of 104 for 7 days. On the 2nd to the last day, Isaac came down with the 104 and by the time we arrived back, Cooper also had the 104 fever that lasted 6-7 days. Kevin's parents were so great to come up and watch the kids while we escaped:)

Cooper had one of the star parts in the 2nd grade play! He was the stink bug. He had several lines and did a great job!

This one turned 4 and we had a small ballet party when we returned.

I can't believe how much she has grown! She lives in her ballet shoes when we are home. She goes over to her ballet bag and can get changed "ALL by MYSELF" which is something that comes out of her mouth many times a day.

Baseball madness:

I had no idea what I signed the boys up for when we started them in these competitive leagues. I was thinking they would both have one game each on Sat. I almost cried when I got the schedule and realized that they had 2-3 games EACH per week!! Visions of my LONG days and nights at my little brother's baseball games came rushing back to me. I am thankful my boys have a run/time limit. It has been very tiring, though. So one week, between the two boys, we had 7 games!! I was never so happy as when one of the games got rained out!! They both had a great time and grew some much in their baseball skills. This week is Isaac's last tournament games. His team beat Steve McNair's son's team yesterday! That team was undefeated until yesterday:) They smashed us the other 3 times they played us. We all were very proud of their improvements!

Cooper just turned 8!

We had his birthday at a place in town where he got to star in his own movie. It is very cute. It was costly so he only got to invite a couple of friends, but he had a great time. He has always loved pretending he is someone else, anyway, so I knew he would enjoy acting. He got enough legos to keep him busy for a couple of weeks.

Kevin was out of town 4-5 times this spring and his grandmother died in April. He was able to go down and say good-bye and we all went to FL for the funeral. Grandma Doris felt like a 3rd grandmother for the kids because we saw her a couple times a year and we all loved her very much. She is missed. Kevin got to preach at her funeral.

Another sadness is that Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter died this May. If you have not heard about it, you can go
here
I have taken Mei to thier house before for thier Asian Invasion playgroups and have known the Chapmans for the past 10 years from CCC days. I was in a small group from church with Mary Beth when Emily Chapman started putting letters on her mother's pillow about adopting a baby from China. I had no idea then that I would be affected by those letters myself and the role their experience would play in us adopting Mei Mei! Maria's death has been so heart-breaking. Please pray for this family as they struggle through this valley.

Now it is summer and you can bet we are at the Y pool swimming and trying to enjoy the long days.
